How can we help?
Answers to common questions, and how to reach us.
When does the new lineup arrive?
A fresh set of games publishes every day, built from that day’s news. The day turns over at midnight US Eastern time.
How is my News IQ worked out?
Every game you finish feeds it, on a scale from 60 to 160. For your first three games we measure quietly; then your score is revealed with its band (Catching Up, Informed, Well-Read, Plugged In, Insider or Oracle). It moves gradually, so one bad day won’t sink it and one great day won’t make it.
Is the “Sharper than X% of players” rank real?
Yes. It compares your score with everyone who has played recently. Until there are enough players to say something honest, we show no rank at all rather than an invented one.
Do I need an account?
No. NewsIQ has no sign-up. Your progress (streak, News IQ, history) is kept on your device and tied to an anonymous ID, so it isn’t linked to your name or email.
How do I turn daily reminders on or off?
NewsIQ asks before sending notifications. To change your mind later, open your phone’s Settings, find NewsIQ, and switch notifications on or off.
Will sharing my score give away the answers?
Never. A shared result shows your score, your grid of right and wrong, your streak and your News IQ. It never includes a question or an answer, so your friends still have to play it themselves.
I tapped a friend’s link. How do I play?
Install NewsIQ from the App Store or Google Play and today’s games are waiting on the home screen. There’s nothing to sign up for.
Why are there ads?
Ads keep NewsIQ free. You’ll see them between games and alongside the story summaries, never in the middle of a question.
